We offer structured mentoring for young people, which is used to help those who may be struggling with family dysfunction or other problems that affect their SEMH. These one-to-one sessions create a therapeutic relationship where mentors act as a supporter and guide for a young person, identifying their needs and helping them socially, as well as with set individual goals.
Our peer mentoring workshops are designed to teach older students how to become mentors for younger students, allowing them to build leadership and social skills while also giving them the opportunity to help a younger student with their studies. This peer mentoring relationship is an excellent chance for both mentor and mentee to learn from and relate to each other, as they are both students in the same learning environment and can therefore understand and empathise with each others’ experiences. |
We provide one-to-one gang intervention and prevention mentors for young people involved in, or at risk of becoming involved in, gangs and criminality. Mentors are able to deliver group awareness sessions as well as intensive one-to-one sessions. The aim is to educate and encourage positive behaviour change. With these services, we aim to reduce stress and frustration not just for the students we directly impact, but also for families and school environments that are impacted by anti-social behaviour, gang culture and postcode wars.
Professionals use their experience and expertise in this field to shatter the glorified image of crime and gangs whilst educating young people about the true consequences of these decisions. Young people will be supported to develop resilience and consequential thinking with raised awareness. They will be encouraged to explore areas of interest and sign-posted or referred to services where they can develop these interests further, which will provide a positive focus, promote a positive self image and empower young people socially, emotionally and mentally whilst challenging unhealthy youth cultures and social norms within Wolverhampton and surrounding areas.
