Our gang prevention programme aims to encourage consequential thinking and independence, building strong therapeutic relationships between young people and our mentors. With this programme, we aim to reach out to young people who are at risk of gang involvement and help develop new mindsets, challenge unhealthy ideas surrounding gangs and foster a positive self image. |
The programme's founder James Gwilt and several of our mentors have first hand experience with gang involvement and have turned their lives around, using their experience to better understand the young people who are at risk and to form strong therapeutic relationships based on mutual trust and understanding. We also receive help from healthcare professionals, social workers, churches, housing and youth offending groups to ensure the young people we help get as much support as possible. Using our referral programmes, we also direct young people and their families to other agencies that offer additional support. |
Individualised care plans are created for young people by working closely with families to set personal goals. We use a variety of activities and methods to help young people who participate in this programme, such as counselling, motivational talks, group workshops and mentoring, as well as a one-week intensive camp retreat. On this retreat, our young people are given opportunities to express themselves through activities like boxing, t-shirt and music. |
Our Offer
We offer a range of positive opportunities whether those be opportunities to develop talents,
join sports clubs or even learn to create music.
Young people not only benefit from mentorship but we also support NEET young people
by helping them to identify
training courses and employment opportunities that are right for them.
Our experienced mentors develop strong therapeutic relationships
with young people to locate the root of the problems that have led
to negative choices. We then use a range of techniques to
encourage positive behaviour change and consequential
thinking. We offer support to parents, schools and
professionals to help tackle the issue of gang involvement, exploitation and criminality.
